Driving a manual car is fun and enjoyable than an automatic car. More so manual cars are cheaper and with improved performances. The manual transmissions are also fuel economy compared to the automatic. This blog addresses the topic How To Drive A Manual which is a concern to many people. Here is a guide on how to drive a manual car.
Press on the clutch and start the engine
To get started, push the clutch all the way in and turn the key on. Before releasing the clutch, ensure that the gear knob is at the neutral. The engine will get started at this point, but you are not moving yet.
Move the gear knob to first gear
While the car is still running and the clutch still held down, move the gear knob to the first gear. The gear knob is labeled, and you will find the first gear on left away from you.
Let go the clutch
Release the clutch slowly until you feel the car starting to roll. This is the most crucial part of driving a manual car. Repeat this process again until you are comfortable with it. It will make your driving easier.
Start on the fuel
Give the car some gas slowly by softly stepping on the gas pedal. Ensure to give it enough gas to move the tachometer. Too much gas will burn the clutch while too little gas will make the car stall. Add more gas as you move.
Fully release the clutch
After you have successfully started and you are already rolling, release the clutch fully. At this point, you can feel the gears are engaged by the kind of vibration reflected at your feet. Now drive around slowly without the clutch. Remember it’s your first time and speed is dangerous.
If the car stalls, do not panic it’s your first time. Repeat the procedure and get started again.
Now you already started and can comfortably drive around in a flat, open area. You need to shift the gears. Moving gears requires some concentration; you need to press in the clutch and move the gear stick to the second gear. By this time you have released the gas pedal a little bit. Now there you are in gear 2. Gradually release the clutch and add some gas calmly and continue driving.
The process is the same from second to third and so forth. You will know when to change gears by the sound of the engine. Practice results to perfection.…
